De Chemische Binding is the study association for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. It was founded in 1967, providing the members with educational and career support, as well as organising many social activities.
The association is meant for both bachelor students and masters of either chemistry or chemical engineering. It is a very social association, in that everyone can walk by and have a chat, so it is a great way to meet some new people when starting your study.
As a study association, De Chemische Binding supports their members during their study by organising exam practice sessions, remedial teaching sessions and course specific excursions. These extracurricular sessions give you a better preparation for your exams, re-exams and research. Since it is mandatory to get your BSA (45 ECT's), the association supports the first years in reaching this goal by organising the above mentioned sessions.
After you have graduated, it is important to know what you want to do. Therefore, the study association organises excursions, masterclasses, lectures, symposia, trainings and other career orientation activities. It also provides information about possible career paths and contact with different employers.
After a hard day of studying, it is important to relax. That is why De Chemische Binding also organises social activities such as sport events, a Christmas dinner, social drinks, movie nights and more. These activities are a perfect place to get to know your fellow students, PhD students and professors.
De Chemische Binding has many different committees that for example organise activities (aXie), social drinks (BorrelCie), support sessions (Education Committee), guest lectures (Lecture Committee). Joining a committee can be a great asset, since committees provide a platform for students to develop communicational, interpersonal and leadership skills.
