We are the Groninger Student IJshockey Vereniging The Bulldogs, aka GSIJV the Bulldogs. Since we were founded in 1991, we are the only student icehockey club in the beautiful city of Groningen.
Student competition
We play in the student competition in the Netherlands, a national competition that includes six other studentteams from cities elsewhere in the Netherlands. In the last few years, we came out on top of the competition quite regularly, winning the national championship five times in the last six years.

Our team is really diverse. We have guys and girls, at every experience level. Everybody is welcome, icehockey is a beautiful sport that should be enjoyed by all. We practice every Wednesday and Sunday evening. Our games are usually on Sunday evening. Over the course of the season we play all teams twice, one home and one away game. That makes it a total of twelve games per season.
Tournaments
Next to the games there are some tournaments during the season, and at the end of the season there's the National Student Championship. A two day tournament with all the studentteams. This tournament is not only awesome because of the icehockey, but also because of the party during the tournament, and at night.
Sundays at the bar
After our practice on Sunday, you can usually find us in our regular bar, Cafe de Toeter. Not only during the season, also during the off-season, we come here on Sunday to discuss the finer things in life and have a lot of fun.
